Single Online Home (SOH) is one of the most ambitious digital transformation programmes in UK public sector history: a single platform connecting all 43 police forces in England and Wales, giving citizens a consistent way to access police services online while retaining the local identity and branding of their force. The project was recognised by Government as an exemplar of successful digital delivery.
The central design challenge was reconciling national consistency with local identity: citizens needed a coherent, trustworthy experience regardless of which force they were interacting with, while each force needed to feel represented through their own branding and local context.
The vision driving the project: the experience of connecting with police through digital channels should be as helpful, personal and reassuring as approaching an officer on the street.
The programme was recognised by Government as an exemplar of successful digital project delivery, cited for its approach to onboarding a large and diverse estate of organisations onto a shared platform without sacrificing local service quality.
